[Giving her an easy out? Maybe. Who knows? In the end, it's just a set-up to his next line, the same way everything will be.]
You have been missing out... Lucky for you, I'm here now!
[Serious. Not serious. Either; both. Whatever he was expecting in reply, it wasn't the quick grab for his hand - but then, maybe she didn't even hear him over her own warning. Anyone with half a brain will learn to tune him out, to a fair degree, pretty quickly.
Either way, now she's grabbing onto him, and laughing, and he really doesn't mind either of those things. It's silly, but for a moment there, with his guard down, he actually feels -...
Too much. Too much, too fast, surely? He can't -... Not that he doesn't want to! But he has Saki, at home. Doesn't he owe her? Of course, Saki herself would probably tell him to go right ahead, but that's really not helping him right now.]
I'll be fine. Really.
[A soft smile - and yet, he doesn't try to remove her hand, or move his own towards the pot again. Much as he should, he can't bring himself to ruin the moment, yet.]
no subject
( but the words and the look on his face, they don't seem to work out. It's disaster and fun, and for the smile he could be quoting something from a book. )
Are you telling me that I should appreciate you before you look around for someone prettier? How cruel!
( and nobody will ever say that Tokage takes enough care of himself, heid indeed listening to everything, even if he doesn't try to make sense of some of the words. It's not always easy to follow conversations when everyone's worries differ so greatly from his own.
Thing is, he doesn't feel worried now. Tokage is getting the feedback of Kida's too much but it's been that from the start, feeling what everyone else does, around him. )
That's a good look for you, right there.
no subject
He still kind of likes it, though... And he has no idea how to respond to it, so he'll just take it and treasure it and leave it as it is, so he can't ruin it.]
I could look years for someone prettier than you, and I would never find her!
[Looking around is really not what he was talking about, but at the same time, it would be a lie to say he wouldn't. More to the point: he already has a girlfriend, sorta kinda, back in his own world, so...
He really, really wants to forget about that, though, if only for a moment.
Lifting his hand with Tokage's, he places a quick kiss on it, grinning, before pulling his own hand back and trying to get to the pot again to smell the food. Priorities.]
no subject
You aren't going to talk about this? Looks like you're used to getting all kinds of girls to compliment you.
( this would probably across as more convincing if he'd actually sulk and not, you now, tilt his head and quirk his eyebrow. ) I'm satisfied with this body as well. Now it just has to get warmer to better enjoy it.
( Tokage is going to. stand there for a moment, after than courtly gesture of dork. What is he meant to do with you? He curls his fingers into his palm, expression a bit lost, before he goes to collect two bowls. )
no subject
[He says it complete with a dismissive wave of his hand, and everything. As if... There have been enough girls, over the years, who were willing to be his girlfriend, but that's not really the same, is it? Whether it's a question of getting older (sure, 16 is so old!) or something else, Saki was the first girl who really seemed to like him, genuinely, and in spite of all his faults. Someone has very fragile self-esteem, especially after Certain Events about two years prior...]
Warmer?
[Did she... really just say that? Don't give a perverted teenager ideas!]
If this is about sharing body heat, I approve.
[Or do give a perverted teenager ideas, apparently. It just seems so unlikely that that's what she means that he feels safe enough to joke about it.]
no subject
( Could be that they found their kettle-pot story here, the thing that draws them in beside their sense of humour. The cockiness with the weak self-esteem, it does sound like it could work as glue )
Sure. For one, warm enough to make use of the pools. It is such a waste not to make use of them, don't you think?
Has anyone ever told you that you should spoon someone to warm them up? You'd have to be the little spoon, too. You generate the most amount of heat in your back.

[Not thinking of Tokage in a bathing suit, not thinking of Tokage in a bathing suit... Totally thinking of Tokage in a bathing suit.]
If it's always this cold here, the landlord should have gotten us a jacuzzi instead!
[Still thinking about Tokage in a bikini. Bathing suit! No, definitely a bikini by now. The idea of her touching his back is really -... Well, with her practically offering to press against him, he can't say no. He's hardly going to drag her on top of him, however.]
Is that so? Well, my back is currently uninhabited, so if you're feeling chilly...
[He'll just be looking over his shoulder at her. And resisting the urge to wink.]
no subject
( Yeaaah, totally expecting you to think that. There is a reason why Tokage's smile stopped at pleasant and crashed right into perverted )
You wouldn't mind? It's harder to see through the water surface with these things.
( it's okay Kida, here, work-sharing! Tokage will wink for you, and awwww, isn't he nice to do that ) I'll keep that in mind for lonely nights.
For now we have our lunch, it would be sad to see it grow cold!
no subject
[Besides, he could study Tokage's body before and after jacuzzi times. And by touch.
Nononononono can't think that... C'mon. He's a nice guy! Even if he's also an easily excited teenager. Which means that line about lonely nights gets taken way too seriously. He knows it's just something to say - of course he does! - but the idea that she might do it is... Hng...
Brain crash. Rebooting in three, two, one...]
Right! Food.
[Forcing a grin. He was totally thinking about food. Without a doubt.]
It smells really good. Do you like cooking?
no subject
( and, watch: this took its time to swap over Tokage, to pull him from his own thoughts, because it's so alien. But there are Kida's desires, both direct and leashed, almost harmless, really, and they make his skin crawl and have him shift on his feet.
It's when he moves back the pot, to the boy, that puts one of the bowls down and wraps his free arm around Kida's throat, entirely loose. Is this what he wants here? )
I do, it's important to take care of the body you're inhabiting.
no subject
[Oh, wait - they're talking good things. That leaves the obvious, mostly -
and then there's an arm around his neck, and suddenly those desires aren't all that innocent anymore. Still leashed, just barely, but burning like a raging fire. Which is probably why he doesn't want to turn around. Just in case.
He'll lean in a bit, though, turning his head to meet her eyes.]
You... consider the soul separate from the body, then?
[Sure, let's start a religious discussion. And just ignore how his voice is husky and barely cooperating, and all he can think about is kissing Tokage, so close to him.]
no subject
( without context, this feels like oh-so much fizzy water, like something that can move him out of his skins in the one way he doesn't know about.
Without context, Tokage would have no idea, really, what this feeling is, but he knows where he is, what he is doing, just now, (not really, actually, that's a half-lie) and he can make an educated guess.
What baffles him now is the same as before, is the question where to go from here. Kida's emotions don't answer him that, but they do pull him under more than Tokage realises. 800 years and all he can think of is to duck his head and press his face against Kida's throat, to nose under his jaw. )
Sure, it's the body that remains dependant on the soul, that starts rotting as soon as its left empty. The soul lives on for a long time after that. Is that hard to believe?
With apologies, but it was impossible to avoid. XD
[Masaomi has no idea, truly. Focusing on a question like that would be hard at the best of times. Right now, it's simultaneously impossible and the only chance he's got to distract himself from being nuzzled, oh God... That feels way too good, and he shouldn't, but he wants to, and clearly she wants to -...
He turns to face her, carefully, trying not to lose her arm around his neck.]
But you can never really be sure, so... I don't see the point of -...
[He keeps talking more or less on autopilot, though his voice is getting soft and low, lacking all trace of emotion. He's too distracted; he has to do it, to try it, to see.
Sorry, Tokage. Masaomi will be trying to kiss you now.]
Oh Kida, most dorky gigolo ever~
( and that is, probably, not how he should refer to anyone here, not as long as they don't know what he is. Still, it is difficult to reach for a clear though, something coherent. He doesn't feel pressured the way he did outside, but
he feels neglectful, about worries.
Still, he isn't slow enough that Kida can catch him by surprise. He has the time to ponder, if only between one breath and the other, if he should. This is not his own body, he knows this, even with how hazy his thoughts are. But, a kiss should be okay, right? Something to thank Kida for, to make him feel-
accomplished? So. Tokage doesn't edge away, leans forward, but it's a short kiss, timed, something that ends in a slow brush of his mouth, in a soft nip, all tease. )
These two. So beautiful in their fail.
If Masaomi's signals were unclear, before, it's because he really has no clue himself what to do. There's what he wants to do, and then there's what he should do. He's never been all that good at separating those two... especially when it comes to girls.
He's got Saki. He owes Saki. But he wants so much to kiss Tokage, again and again. To touch her. To -...
To fail Saki again - to lose her again? What the hell kind of person is he, anyway?! An intense wave of self-loathing, and then he tries to recover from this whole episode, starting with some highly practiced awkward laughter.]
Ah, sorry... I got so hungry for your lips, I confused appetites.
The food! Right.
always, always. How do you Human Interaction 101
In fact, it looks like he's grinning, one corner of his mouth curled up more than the other. Might be a bad habit to smile with a bit of teeth, but
there are more important things. The free-fall of Kida's mood, to be precise, and Tokage hisses as that swaps over him. It's the sound of someone burning their finger, or: the noise something old and magic makes when it feels pressured. )
Ah, I thought this was getting better.
*pets them both*
Sure, kid, that's the problem.Because he really didn't mean to be harsh about it...]Sorry. I do really like you, but... I sorta got someone back home.
[All right, so his line of reasoning is completely faulty, but he is telling her something that he hasn't told anyone about. His best friend may or may not have some idea, but even with him, Masaomi has kept silent about his girlfriend.]
Re
Don't look so glum. I was clumsy and touched the hot stove. It's so silly, too!
( which...actually, isn't a lie. Nobody needs to know that he touched the stove intentionally, and after that kiss. Let's just turn towards the sink and turn the water on )
It's reckless to play with fire. ( and that's a look cut right back at you, a simple tease, something almost-sly. Tokage would be more upbeat, but you're being an emotional cockblock, dear )
You have to tell me about her now, though. No backing-out, Kida!
no subject
[Silly him, he didn't even notice -... Well, as long as he didn't hurt her, he can relax. It's sort of nice to get the fact that he has a girlfriend out in the open - if only to protect him from himself and his... bottomless charm.
Actually, his bottom is a large part of -... I'll shut up now.Not that he's all that eager to go into details about it.]Do you have a first aid kit, or something? I'll go get it.
[An awkward smile at the demand for more information. Sorry, Tokage, 99% of that particular story is stuff you'll never ever hear. There isn't much that Masaomi minds sharing, but this is just a little too much.]
There's really not that much to tell. We met, we hit it off... We started dating.
There was a rough patch for a while, but we're back together now.
no subject
( he..probably doesn't even feel the burn, considering that he can move around after someone has stabbed him, but, hey, why not suck up some extra care? Tokage isn't so nice as to let that go )
I don't know - maybe? It seems like something you should find here, but I never had a need for one, with the way things are. Say, are there more people in your house? This one is so sad.
( but but but he can push okay? One day he'll know more...! Or not, but it's certainly an ambition )
Aah, you are keeping secrets from me! Is she so special that you have to lock her up in your heart?
( turning the water off now, and making reaching for the ladle to dish out dinner. Progress?!)
no subject
[As for that first aid kit, he goes looking for it a little, though only around the kitchen. It doesn't seem worth the effort of running off, since Tokage seems to be doing all right.]
Well... I guess Masrur isn't too bad.
[Yes, Tokage can push, of course! It's not like Masaomi minds attention in any way, shape, or form, but a lot of this particular story will remain a secret. On the bright side, talking about Saki puts him in a pretty good mood, though there's always the undertone of missing her.]
There's no secrets! [Laughing a bit, in spite of it being a pretty big lie.] Her name is Saki. And yeah, she's special.
I mean... When a person knows all about you, and they like you anyway. That's kind of special, right?
no subject
( let's just - have you look around, maybe that'll keep you occupied and away from your darker-than-wanted thoughts? )
Haven't heard about him. Or seen him, really. Which might say something in his favour. I was married to this guy I never saw, do you know how weird that was? Mimio? Or something, it makes me want to stay far away from the landlord.
( but aaaa, you see, Saki is becoming an increasingly favourite topic here, not only is it cute, and keeps Kida a few steps away from romance, it also make the mood so much nicer. And, therefore, the empathy way easier to bear )
Saki, huh? That is a pretty name ( with a bit of an odd meaning, but ) Is she your age?
( up until this point Tokage kept on glancing back, but he'll turn his back more fully now, for a moment or more. ) You can't trump that, to be honest. It's probably something everyone wishes for themselves, a person like that.
no subject
[Does she even have one? He's not sure - but he's always had jobs for the social interaction as much as the money, himself.]
Mimi-o? Like ears?
[That's probably not even how you write it, but he's happy to roll with that theory all the same.]
Maybe he hid from you because he was like Dumbo!
[Yes, yes exactly: someone like Saki is what everyone wishes for. And Masaomi has it. Had it. Has it still, maybe, in a way.]
Right. And yeah, she's my age... Why do you ask?
[Completely sincere curiosity. And completely ignoring his earlier proclaimed ambitions about dating older girls.
It's just... different, hitting on girls. It barely even has anything to do with the kind of feelings he has for Saki.]
no subject
I - probably, now that you say it. He has something animal-like about him.
( but he's a catboy Kida, that is totally how you write it. maybe
annnnnd this leads to some kind of snickercough that has Tokage hide his mouth behind his hand. )
Nothing, really. Maybe I'm just feeling old? Young love is something to envy.
( heading to the table now, both cups in hand. There are chopsticks already, and two cups of tea- )
no subject
Not that lazy. It's not like you really need one, after all. But if you're lonely, it's a good excuse to get in touch with people.
[Tokage, old? What a ridiculous thought! Granted, Masaomi has hit on grannies without batting an eye, but Tokage doesn't even come close to looking that old.]
You're not old!
[On the verge of bursting into laughter, Masaomi follows Tokage to the table.]
You're... beautiful.
[Accompanied by a soft smile. Funny, he doesn't usually manage to say that seriously... Obviously, he has to make things less serious immediately.]
And clearly a great chef!
